I am shocked that Lalmonirhat is the neighbouring district. Very close to my home. My maternal extended families are there. I knew the people of kurigram since my childhood. I knew the atmosphere. It is regrettable and strange that I am using the “knew” word. The incident that was happened there is not the North Bengal I ever knew. #surprised #shocked.
Once my father, the great Nazrul Chairman, adopted a girl who was Hindu. He raised her as Hindu and finally he did the thing what any father would do. He selects a perfect match for her for marriage. The marriage was a Hindu ritual. He appointed one of his closed friend Robi (a member of his union Parishad) for the job. On that particular marriage ritual, there was a part what should be done by the brother of the bride. As I was her brother, I took part in the ritual. It was 1989 (so far I can recall). I was 9 years old at that time.
Kurigram the neighbouring district didn’t find any problem with that marriage. And today in 2020 we killed a man. We burned him alive. While burning the body, we photographed him. Our face was like hanging a party! This is the Bangladesh we made. We are responsible for everything.
